FCA undertook St. Michael’s Medical Center’s master planning process in conjunction with Newark Museum, NJIT, and Rutgers to maximize joint-development opportunities. The campus re-orientation and re-organization effort includes a new entry sequence off of Martin Luther King Boulevard and a new Clinical Tower Building linking the Main and Annex Buildings. A new materials receiving location was developed along with miscellaneous infrastructure stabilization and renovations.
Additional treatment spaces alleviate the influx of additional patients caused by the closings of Columbus and Saint James. Infrastructure upgrades to poorly-maintained or derelict portions of the campus were also implemented. The current plan was chosen out of three concepts presented, then refined to provide greatest impact while allowing for flexibility in future growth.
