FCA was selected to provide healthcare feasibility design, planning and design services for the renovation of the 5th floor in the Klingenstein Clinical Health Center for the Rehabilitation Medicine program. Completed in 2011, the goals of the project were to update the space, eliminate the 3 and 4 bed wards into single and double patient rooms with accessible toilet/shower rooms. The scope of work included designing new state-of-the-art therapy space, creating spaces for patient socialization and recreation as well as new support spaces. A central reception/caregiver work area was created in order to increase efficiency and better organize the entry to the department, and touch-down workspaces along the corridors were also provided for the caregivers. Finishes, lighting and furnishings we also upgraded to create a more conducive environment for healing.
